Lower Dolpo is a remote and exciting trekking destination in Nepal. Rich in cultural and natural beauty, trekking Lower Dolpo is a magical experience.

From Ringmo- a small village you enter your initial trek through protected areas od Shey Phoksundo National Park along with a glimpse of the crystal clear blue water within Shey Phoksundo Lake (3,600m).

Lower Dolpo encompasses through ancient villages like Dho Tarap; where ancient traditions are prevalent; pine forest, lush terrains are inhabited with unique flora and fauna.

There are two high passes you must cross through- the Baga La(5,070m) and the Numala Pass (5360m); the most elevated point of the trek where panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and several Tibetan ranges like Kugung La and Khyung La can be witnessed.

The nomadic populace and the traditions they follow are rare to find anywhere as well as the earthy and pristine landscapes that the destination offers.

The natives follow ancient Tibetan Buddhism known as ‘Bon Po’ mainly cause of its close tie with Tibet.

The Dolpolians still depend on trading commodities like salt, barley, cotton, and rice in Tibet. The traders are seen to pass through the rustic lands with their yaks carrying goods.
